We interview Nick Couldry - Professor of Media, Communications and Social Theory Emeritus and Professorial Research Fellow in the department of Media and Communications at LSE. Nick's new book - "Predatory AI: How we can resist corporate capture of the Human mind" explores the ways in which AI is robbing us of our cognition and in so doing is dissolving the very fabric of a shared reality, downstream of this is any coherent application of a (functioning) democracy. Nick has thought long and deeply about the ways in which AI is perniciously atrophying the minds of students, what this means for the state of capitalism and what we can do about it. A quote from the interview.. "If we don't resist this (AI) - our capacity to resist anything will be weakened. it is absolutely a core issue. If we get this wrong, the very basis of politics that we need for all other struggles will be undermined." - Nick Couldry "We should pass a law - that workers have a right - in every organisation to say YES or NO to the use of AI in their organisation."
